The Pied-billed Grebes on the big pond at Heather Farm in Walnut Creek =
are finally parents.  This morning the mother was off the nest, which =
appeared empty.  She eventually showed a baby on her back.  Upon =
returning to the nest she uncovered at least one more egg.  She had =
moved some of the wet vegatation to hide the egg while she hid under =
some willows.  The mostly resident albino Black-Crowned Night-Heron and =
an immature Night-Heron were sitting in a willow nearby. =20
